Our History
L A Moore Limited was founded by owner, Les Moore, on 16th August 1952, trading as ‘L A Moore Builders Limited’ as a building concern.
In the 1960’s the company quickly expanded our activities with the addition of heavy plant machinery acquired and the company undertaking sub-contract groundworks, plant, hire etc, and we soon became an approved contractor for British Rail.
Providing our services to complete demolition of railway stations, signal boxes including decommissioning and lifting of railway lines. We participated in the uplift of many miles of railway line and station/signal box demolition resulting from the Beeching cuts.
In 1969 the Company was granted membership of ‘The National Federation of Demolition Contractors’, the industry leading body for the demolition industry.
On the 30th June 1970, the company changed its name to ‘L A Moore Limited’. The Company was well established as both a main contractor in the field of demolition / civil engineering and as an approved sub-contractor to many Local and County Councils, working on various projects including earthworks for new roads, sea defences, shopping centres, office complexes and many other industrial, commercial and residential buildings.
This continued until the 1990’s when we were tendering for works with the Department of Environment, British Railways, Utility Companies and National Construction Companies, this has continued into the current century, and we have grown into an established family firm with an excellent reputation for providing professional and practical solutions to the industry.
Our Management Team are proud of our record for Health & Safety, Training and Development and our combined capabilities provide an “all in one” solution for demolition projects.
Where we are now
L A Moore Ltd are still committed to promoting Health & Safety best practice. Competency of employees supported through Training and Development. Low staff turnover ensures knowledge base and experience is retained, we also have an extensive fleet of plant which is available for use on all our works.
L A Moore Ltd continues to undertakes all types of demolition works and refurbishment work. We are experienced in soft strip, asbestos removal, site clearance, crushing, recycling of materials, civil engineering and haulage. All our employees are CCDO (Certificate Of Competence Of Demolition Operative) and CPCS (construction Plant Competence Scheme, along with our accreditations in ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO45001, standards we are committed to adhere to.
L A Moore Ltd is committed to giving environmental issues the highest priority. We work in accordance with all current legislation and ensure that adequate protection of the environment is provided against unnecessary exposure to hazards and risks.
Where we operate
From our base near Wells in Somerset we cover the South West of England, South Wales, Hampshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
